Tryouts

Due to the number of players expected at each age level, tryouts are divided into multiple sessions. During registration, families will be asked to select a level that best reflects their player’s current level of play (AA or A/B) as an initial starting point for evaluations.

Please note that AA teams will be selected exclusively from the AA tryout sessions. Registering for an AA session does not increase the likelihood of placement on an A-level team.

These groupings are intended only to help the club efficiently evaluate players during the limited number of tryout days. As the evaluation process progresses, players may be asked to attend different ice times if necessary to assist coaches in finalizing team selections.

The Princeton Junior Tigers anticipate fielding four to five teams in most age groups for the upcoming season. Following tryouts, teams will be placed in the appropriate league divisions (AA, A, B, National, American, etc.).

If you are unsure which tryout session is most appropriate for your player, please contact Hockey Director Ian McNally, who will be happy to assist.

The tryout dates are set by the Atlantic Amateur District Association (AAHA) and apply to all USA Hockey youth programs in the Atlantic District. PJT does not determine the tryout dates nor are we allowed to hold tryout dates prior to these dates.

For the 2026-27 season, the Princeton Jr. Tigers will have stand alone girls teams at the 10U, 12U, and 14U age groups. Team levels will be determined after tryouts based on the makeup of the rosters.
