Princeton University Hockey Clinics & Player Development

Throughout the year, the Princeton Junior Tigers (PJT) partner with the Princeton University Tigers men's ice hockey and Princeton University Tigers women's ice hockey programs to offer special youth hockey clinics and development sessions for our players.

These clinics give Princeton Junior Tigers athletes a unique opportunity to learn directly from NCAA Division I hockey players and coaches while developing their skating, puck skills, and overall hockey IQ. The sessions focus on skill development, small-area games, and hockey fundamentals, while also allowing younger players to interact with and learn from collegiate athletes who compete at one of the highest levels of college hockey.

Many of these clinics take place at Hobey Baker Rink, the historic home of Princeton University hockey and one of the most iconic college hockey arenas in the United States. Practicing and participating in clinics at Hobey Baker Rink gives PJT players an exciting opportunity to experience hockey in a true collegiate environment while building confidence and improving their skills.

The partnership between the Princeton Junior Tigers youth hockey program and Princeton University hockey helps strengthen the local hockey community while creating memorable experiences for young players. These clinics are designed to inspire the next generation of hockey players, promote skill development, and deepen players’ connection to the sport.

Princeton Junior Tigers Annual Tailgate

Each season kicks off with the Princeton Junior Tigers Annual Tailgate at Princeton University, held before a Princeton hockey game at Hobey Baker Rink. This favorite community tradition brings together players and families from our travel teams, Nassau House Hockey, and Tiger Cubs programs for an afternoon of food, music, and team spirit.

It’s a fun way for the entire PJT community to connect, celebrate the start of the season, and cheer on Princeton University hockey together.

Princeton Junior Tigers Annual Banquet

Each year, the Princeton Junior Tigers celebrate the season at our End-of-Season Banquet held at The Westin Princeton at Forrestal Village in Princeton, NJ, where players, families, coaches, and volunteers from all of our travel teams come together to reflect on the year and celebrate the accomplishments of the program. During the evening, several prestigious awards are presented to honor the individuals who embody the spirit of Princeton Junior Tigers hockey, including the Ducko/McNally Trophy (10U) recognizing perseverance and teamwork, the Joseph P. Leddy Jr. Trophy (12U) and William S. Smoyer Trophy (14U) honoring character, sportsmanship, and dedication, the Princeton Youth Hockey Lifetime Achievement Award recognizing players who have remained with the program from Mite through Midget, the Frank L. Whittaker Award honoring outstanding family support and volunteerism, the Dave and Peg Firth Trophy recognizing exceptional board service, the Paul Puchalk Award celebrating perseverance and commitment to the organization through adversity, and the Greg McDonald Coach’s Award, which honors a coach who exemplifies positivity, connection, and dedication to the development of our players both on and off the ice.
