Competitive Girls Travel Hockey in Princeton, New Jersey
The Princeton Junior Tigers Girls Hockey Program (“Princeton Junior Tiger Girls”, “PJT Girls” or the “Program”) provides competitive travel hockey opportunities for girls in the greater Princeton area, Central New Jersey, and Eastern Pennsylvania who are committed to developing their skills, competing at a high level, and being part of a positive and supportive team environment.
The Program is committed to building a long-term girls' hockey program in the Princeton area, with a structured development pathway that supports players as they progress from youth hockey through high school and beyond.
PJT Girls Hockey - At A Glance
- Teams: 10U A/AA • 12U A/AA • 14U A/AA
- League: Mid-Atlantic Women’s Hockey Association (MAWHA)
- Practices: Two on-ice practices per week with optional off-ice/dryland training for select teams
- Games: Typically two games per weekend
- Tournaments: Two or more local or regional tournaments per season
- Goalie Development: Dedicated goalie development with PJT goalie coaches
- Facilities: Hobey Baker Rink (Princeton University), Princeton Day School, Lawrenceville School, and the Cure Arena
Program Affiliation
Princeton Junior Tigers Girls is part of the Lawrence Princeton Nassau Hockey Association (“Princeton Youth Hockey”, “Princeton Junior Tigers” and “PJT”).
Please note that the Princeton Tiger Lilies are not part of Princeton Youth Hockey and are unaffiliated with our program. They operate independently under Black Bear Sports Group.
Program Overview
Princeton Junior Tiger Girls is a Tier II program, designed for players with foundational skating skills and previous hockey experience who are ready to continue their development in a structured travel hockey environment.
Players typically join the program after gaining experience in:
- Learn-to-Play hockey programs
- House league hockey programs
- Co-ed travel team
- Other girls hockey programs
Players who are completely new to hockey are encouraged to begin in a Learn-to-Play or House League program before joining the PJT Girls travel teams.
The Program focuses on helping players develop:
- Strong skating fundamentals
- Puck skills and hockey IQ
- Confidence and leadership
- Teamwork and sportsmanship
Players train with experienced coaches and benefit from access to several outstanding local ice facilities.

Structured Player Development
The Program emphasizes skating fundamentals, puck skills, and hockey IQ through consistent practices and development-focused training. Players benefit from a structured approach that supports long-term player development as they progress through the Program.
Strong Coaching Leadership
PJT Girls is committed to building a strong coaching staff to support the program. The 14U Girls team will be led by paid coaches, reflecting the Program’s commitment to providing high-level instruction during an important stage of player development. Additional coaching staff will support the 10U and 12U teams as the program continues to expand.
Dedicated Goalie Development
For the upcoming season, Princeton Youth Hockey is hiring three full-time goalie coaches who will work across the organization, including with PJT Girls. This integrated approach ensures goaltenders receive consistent and specialized coaching throughout the season.
These coaches will:
- Attend team practices
- Attend home games
- Provide position-specific goalie instruction
- Evaluate in-game performance to guide training

PJT Girls teams train at several outstanding local ice facilities. These facilities provide excellent ice quality and a professional training environment for player development.

Connection to the Princeton University Hockey Community
PJT Girls is part of a strong local hockey community. The Program has hosted events and clinics with members of the Princeton University Women’s Hockey Team, allowing young players to learn from NCAA Division I athletes.
Girls Hockey Clinic with Princeton University
The Princeton Junior Tigers regularly host clinics and events with Princeton University’s men’s and women’s hockey teams. These events provide players with opportunities to develop skills while strengthening the connection between PJT and Princeton University.
PJT Girls recently hosted a girls hockey clinic with members of the Princeton University Women’s Hockey Team, where players were able to:
- Participate in skill development sessions led by NCAA athletes
- Learn directly from collegiate players
- Interact with role models in women’s hockey
Leadership Development
The Princeton Junior Tigers organization provides an excellent environment for young athletes to develop leadership, confidence, and teamwork. Players in the PJT Girls program are encouraged to grow as leaders both on and off the ice. Hear it from the PJT Girls themselves!
